Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans is pleased to announce a
partnership with A Shared Initiative, Inc (ASII). Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans will donate $5 of every
entry fee towards A Shared Initiative, Inc, which is helping provide affordable homeownership in the Greater
New Orleans area. Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans is committed to the recovery efforts in New Orleans and
is very excited to be working with A Shared Initiative, Inc in this process.

  Bike Map: 56 Mi. Bike Course   
The 56 Mile Bike Course starts at transition area at the University of New Orleans Research Campus. Cyclists will turn left out of T1 and onto Lakeshore Drive where they will head east. Athletes will cross the Seabrook Bridge and follow Haynes Blvd until you reach the 510 expressway in New Orleans East. Cyclist will continue on the 510 Expressway crossing over Interstate 10 and exit at Lake Forest Blvd. Cyclist will turn left onto the Frontage Road that runs along the 510 Expressway to Chef Menteur Highway(Highway90). Athletes will turn left and follow Highway 90 until they reach Lake Catherine at the 28 mile mark. At this point competitors will make a u-turn and return to the transition area using the same route. Race Management will provide mobile bike support on the bike course. Should you need assistance, please be patient until bike support arrives. Race Management will also provide 3 bike bottle exchange locations on the 56 mile route. Each station will offer, bottled water, bottled Gatorade and PowerBars and PowerGels. Portable restrooms will also be available at each bottle exchange location with bike racks for you to rack your bike while you use the portable restrooms.

  Run Map: 13.1 Mi. Run Course   
The run course is a simple point to point half marathon run that will start from the transition area at the University of New Orleans Research Campus and leave along Lakeshore Drive heading west to West End Blvd. Athletes will make a u-turn there and head east along Lakeshore Drive until they reach Beauregard Drive where they will turn right. Athletes will run along Beauregard Drive turning into Wisner Blvd along the eastern side of City Park until they reach Friederichs Ave. Athletes will turn right on Friederichs Ave and run to Golf Drive then Palm Drive and then run to Roosevelt Mall. Competitors will run outside of City Park passing the New Orleans Museum of Art. Athletes will cross Wisner Blvd. and head south along Esplanade Avenue to Decatur Street and turn right to the finish line at Jackson Square.

  Swim Map: 1.2 Mi. Swim Course   
The 1.2 mile swim course is a point to point course that will start near Rail Street and Lakeshore Drive in Lake Ponchatrain. This will be a wave start event each wave entering the water at 4 minute intervals. The swim course will start along the seawall where Bayou St. John joins Lake Ponchatrain at the Bayou St. John Bridge. Athletes will follow the seawall and the string of buoys heading east to Ponchatrain Beach never swimming more then 30 yards off shore. Once athletes reach the breach front area at swim exit they will exit the water and run a short carpeted distance to T1.

  NEW ORLEANS TO HOST IRONMAN 70.3 IN 2009   
NEW ORLEANS, LA – November 13, 2007 - Ironman is pleased to announce that New Orleans will play host to one of nearly 30 Ironman 70.3 events in 2009. The event takes place on Sunday, April 5th, 2009, where a course of 70.3 miles will take athletes on a scenic tour through the historic city of New Orleans. Registration for Ironman 70.3 New Orleans will open on November 13, 2007, at www.ironmanneworleans.com. A total of 50 qualifying slots to the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater, FL will be up for grabs at this event
