1.2 Mile Swim Course

The 1.2 mile swim course is an out and back swim course this year from the UNO Research and Technology Park. The swim will be wetsuit legal, with water temperatures expected to be in the high 60's/low 70's. This will be a wave start swim with each wave entering the water at 4 minute intervals. The swim course will start along the the beach area at the Research Park on the shores of Lake Ponchatrain. Athletes will swim off shore about 100 meters and turn left heading west for about 750 meters until they reach the next large yellow turn bouy which will direct them towards the shorline and another turn bouy that directs athletes back to the swim exit. Once athletes reach the beach front area at swim exit they will exit the water and run a short distance to T1.

56 Mile Bike Course

Athletes will exit out of transition onto Elysian Fields Ave. Athletes will head straight down Elysian Fields Ave. and take a left onto Leon C. Simon Dr. Athletes will head down Leon C. Simon Dr. towards the Seabrook Bridge. Athletes will cross over the Seabrook Bridge (the top of this bridge will be carpeted by race management for athletes safety) and continue onto Hayne Blvd towards Paris Rd. Athletes will turn right onto Paris Rd and head down Paris Rd towards the 510 Expressway. Athletes will follow Paris Rd. onto the 510 Express way and cross over Interstate 10 and exit at Chef Menteur Hwy (Hwy 90). Athletes will turn left onto Hwy 90 and head east towards Venetian Isles. At this point athletes will make a u-turn and go back down Hwy 90 towards Hwy 11. Athletes will take a right onto Hwy 11 and ride 5 miles down Hwy 11 and turnaround and head back down Hwy 11 towards Hwy 90. Athletes will take a right onto Hwy 90 and head back west towards Transition. Athletes will take a right onto Frontage Rd and go down Frontage Rd to Six Flags Blvd. Athletes will u-turn at Six Flags Blvd. and head back down towards Chef Menteur Hwy. Athletes will turn right onto Chef Menteur and head back towards transition. Race Management will provide mobile bike support on the bike course. Should you need assistance, please be patient until bike support arrives. Race Management will also provide 3 bike bottle exchange locations on the 56 mile route. Each station will offer, bottled water, bottled Gatorade and PowerGels. Race Management will have 12,000 bottles of fluid on the bike course for the 2010 event. Portable restrooms will also be available at each bottle exchange location with bike racks for you to rack your bike while you use the portable restrooms.

13.1 Mile Run Course – Point to Point:

Athletes will exit out of transition onto Elysian Fields Ave. Athletes will head straight down Elysian Fields Ave. and take a right onto Leon C. Simon Dr. Athletes will head down Leon C. Simon Dr over the London Canal and take an immediate right onto Pratt Dr. Athletes will run down Pratt Dr. and dog leg towards the right to continue down Pratt Dr. towards Lakeshore Dr. Athletes will take a left onto Lakeshore Dr and follow Lakeshore Dr. underneath the bridge and onto Lake Terrace Dr/St. Bernard Ave. Athletes will follow St. Bernard Ave until they hit Robert E. Lee. Athlete will make a right onto Robert E. Lee and head towards Wisner Blvd. Athletes will turn left onto Wisner Blvd. and head down Wisner Blvd towards Harrison Ave. Athletes will take a right onto Harrison Ave. and go through the park towards Marconi Dr. Athletes will take a right onto Marconi Dr. and head towards Robert E. Lee. Athletes will turn around once they reach Robert E. Lee and head back down Marconi Dr. Athletes will pass Harrison Ave and head down Marconi Dr. until they reach the turnaround point right before Zachary Taylor Dr. Athletes will turn around and head back down Marconi Dr. towards Harrison Ave. Once athletes reach Harrison Ave. they will turn right onto Harrison Ave and head back into City Park. Athletes will take a right on Diagonal Dr (at the roundabout). Athletes will head down Diagonal Dr. and take a left onto Magnolia Dr. Athletes will head down Magnolia Dr. and take a left onto Zachary Taylor Dr. where they will follow that road until they hit Henry Thomas Dr and they will take a right onto Henry Thomas Dr to go underneath the I-610 and head down Henry Thomas Dr. Athletes will veer left down Henry Thomas Dr. and take a left in the fork in the road to run down Friedrichs Ave. Athletes will run down Friedrichs Ave towards Wisner Blvd. Athletes will take a right onto Wisner Blvd. and head down Wisner Blvd. towards Esplanade Ave. Athletes will take a left onto Esplanade Ave and run down Esplanade Ave. for the next 2 miles. Athletes will take a right onto Decatur St. bringing them into the French Quarter. Athletes will run to the finish on Decatur St. in front of Jackson Square. Water stations for the 2010 event will be located at every mile along the 13.1 mile course. Race Management will also supply three ice trucks on the run course to assist with the chilling of product and athletes for the 2010 event.

Finish Line

When athletes cross the Finish Line their ChampionChip will be removed before exiting the finish area. Athletes must move quickly out of this area and into the post event party including food, beverages, massages and entertainment.
