Changes planned for 2010
Following several months of post event evaluation and hours of work with city and local officials Premier Event Management is proud to announce several changes that we feel will enhance the athlete and spectator experience at the 2010 Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans event. Premier Event Management has also been working with members of the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Orleans Levee District on the next phase of hurricane protection for the City of New Orleans and how that construction will affect our event for 2010. Below is a list of changes that will enhance everyones experience at the 2010 Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans:
  1. The swim start and swim exit locations will be in the same place for the 2010 event. This will give athletes the opportunity to walk along the beach front to swim start which is now located near the transition area at the University of New Orleans Research & Technology Park. This change will also allow spectators to watch athletes at both the swim start and swim exit.

  2. The transition area will now be in the large grass field between the Lindy Boggs Conference Center and the United States Naval Office Complex. This grass field will give athletes a better surface to run on after completing the swim course and its shape is more square instead of the rectangular transition area used for the inaugural event.

  3. The start and finish of the 56 mile bike course will utilize Elysian Fields Avenue to Leon C Simon and not Lakeshore Drive for the 2010 event. Accessing Lakeshore Drive will be limited because Lakeshore Drive in areas will be closed due to hurricane protection construction during the 2010 event.

  4. Premier Event Management has made major changes to the 3 bottle exchange locations on the bike course for 2010. Each location will offer ice, restroom facilities, 2,000 Bottles of Gatorade Endurance Formula and 3,500 bottles of Sport Cap water. Thats 16,500 bottles of product on the bike course for 2010. Powerbars and Powergels will also be available at each location on the bike course.

  5. Water stations on the 13.1 mile run course will offer new items for 2010 as well. Water station locations will be located at every mile and they will offer, ice, sponges, water, Gatorade Endurance Formula, Soft Drinks and portable restrooms. Powerbars and Powergels will also be available at every location on the run course.

  6. The 2010 Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans has partnered with the Audubon Institute to secure the use of Woldenberg Park for its post event celebration and the 2010 awards presentation. This will provide athletes and spectators with a prime location for relaxing along the banks for the Mississippi River following the event.
